Manual or automatic sanitizer dispenser?

Manual push dispensers are the low-cost, low-maintenance choice for most offices, shops and schools. Touch-free sensor dispensers avoid a shared button and give a controlled dose, which suits clinics and busy entrances, but they need batteries or power. Placement matters more than type: put dispensers where people pause.

Quick answer

  • Manual: cheap, simple, no batteries; clean the push plate daily.
  • Automatic: no contact, measured dose; needs batteries or power and the right fluid.
  • Floor stands: movable, no drilling; good for events and rented premises.
  • Refill from sealed packs after emptying and drying; never top up.

Placement rules that increase use

  • At the entrance, on the side people pass, at about elbow to chest height.
  • Visible from the door, with a small sign: "Please clean your hands".
  • At reception, cash counters and lift lobbies.
  • Outside meeting rooms, classrooms and canteens; in clinics at each point of care.
  • Away from heaters, sockets, direct sun and flames.

Choosing the right fluid

Many sensor dispensers are designed for liquid or spray sanitizer and clog with thick gel; some manual dispensers are made for gel. Check the dispenser's instructions or tell us the model, and we will supply sanitizer that flows correctly.

Frequently asked questions

How often should dispensers be refilled?

Check daily in busy places. A dispenser that is empty for half a day trains people to walk past it. Keep a 5-litre refill pack on site.

Do automatic dispensers waste less sanitizer?

Usually, because they give a set dose. Make sure the dose is a full palm, about 2 to 3 ml; very small doses save money but do not clean hands properly.

Can dispensers be installed on glass or tiles?

Yes, with the right fixings or strong adhesive pads. Floor stands avoid drilling altogether.
